ALAN goes to work
The American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN), which provides an online resource connecting agencies responding to disasters with resources in the supply chain industry, said that it helped co-ordinate its first international rescue effort, an oceangoing shipment of 155 boxes of clothing and blankets bound for the Republic of Georgia.
ALAN also announced it has expanded its outreach effort at the state level. It now has relationships with 31 states as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and New York City. These relationships cover 72 percent of the U.S. population, ALAN said. ALAN was formed at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals' 2005 Annual Conference shortly after Hurricane Katrina.
